What is peace?  How can a person, a community, a nation, a world, become more peaceful?  What can each of us do?  A dozen performers, including musicians, poets, a storytellers, and a painter, come together to explore the concept of peace.

—PROGRAM:

"Peace Piece" by Bill Evans
A meditative piano improvisation, presenting the softspoken power of inner peacefulness.

"Louange à l'Éternité de Jésus" by Olivier Messiaen
Katherine Hahn creates a painting before your eyes as a cello/piano duet intones heavenly music.

"Dolphin's Dance", "A Day in the Life", and "Spacious Skies" by Pamela Weng, Dr. Bob Boyle, and Dee Galloway
Inspiring poetry about the individuals that constitute a nation, read to evocative piano accompaniment.

"Peace! The Perfect Word" by Odell Shepard
A hymn for all to sing, many voices becoming one.

"Insiders & Outsiders" by Christopher Maier
A master storyteller presents a tale in response to the Columbine killings of 1999.

"Gimme Some Truth" by John Lennon
All is not right with the world - we are being lied to by countless people and corporations in power.  Sometimes you just want to scream.  Here's your chance.

"Subdivision" by Ani DiFranco
Here's some truth for you.

"First Circle" by Pat Metheny & Lyle Mays
A truly incredible piece of music, one of the most deeply inspiring I have ever come across, presented by a full rock band.

The concert will also include a silent meditation, plus time for brief audience responses to questions.  Members from various organizations will be available afterwards to discuss ways that you can get involved in community-building activities, and do something to create peace in this world.
