—NEWS—  September 2008 - I am beginning a Masters Degree in Composition at Indiana University.  The opportunities here are incredible!  Check the blog periodically for updates...

September 2007 - Ich bin hier!  You can follow this link to my blog, which will be updated quite frequently...

August 2007 - After an action-packed final month in Denver, I'm back with my family in Maryland for the next month before I embark on the big adventure!  I have rented an apartment in Vienna and will arrive there in mid-September...check back soon for an interactive blog and the ongoing results of my music survey!

June 2007 - The Concert for Peace on June 24 will feature music, poetry, storytelling, and painting to explore some themes which are vitally important to all our lives.  This will also be my last concert in Denver.  Recital season is going marvelously - here are some of the pictures from my Farewell Concert, which I consider the best concert I've ever presented.  My piano students' recital was also great, and a private concert with Tim Murphy was such a rewarding experience.  I'm looking for more volunteers to take my Music Survey about what music means to us individually; please write me if you're interested in participating.

April 2007 - Several big projects in the works - my piano students will give a recital on May 12; please visit the page about my Farewell Concert on June 2; I'm organizing a Concert for Peace for June 24; more of my compositions will be published very soon; and I'll be composing and recording a soundtrack for SoleJourney, a documentary about gay families seeking the rights they deserve.  It's great to have so many rich opportunities for growth...

February 2007 - I have big plans for next year!  From September to May, I'll be living in Vienna, taking composition lessons with Chaya Czernowin, and spending all my time composing and studying.  This period of extremely focused study, without spending my energies earning money or earning a degree, will be incredibly useful for my creative development.  After next year, I would like to enter grad school.  Please let me know if you happen to know anyone in Vienna whom I should get in touch with!

December 2006 - I wish everyone a happy holiday season!  My Christmas CD would make a great gift for anyone on your list - and also take a look at the undiscovered country CD, now being sold exclusively through CDBaby!

November 2006 - Friday, Nov. 17 is a big concert night - the first half presented by Polyphonics with poet Ken Ellison, the second half consisting of spontaneous solo piano improvisations.  More info...

September 2006 - Several new plans are in motion - the website is now revised to incorporate PayPal for easy ordering (check out the new recordings and compositions pages) - I'm seeking publishers for several of my instrumental and choral pieces - I'm planning another performance with Ken Ellison and Polyphonics this fall - the start of another church year brings great new musical opportunities - but most strikingly, I'm working on plans for the next decade, to involve studying in Europe, then at American music schools, and ultimately becoming a composition professor.  Stay tuned...

July 2006 - I'm quite excited to be the winner of a composition award from the International Tuba-Euphonium Association! ITEA award Thanks to Jeff Meyer for commissioning me to write the piece in the first place!  The Quartet for the End of Music can be heard on New Music from Chappell's Kitchen, and scores can be purchased directly from me.  I'm currently busy writing new pieces for tuba quartet, solo percussionist (on marimba and vibraphone), and solo flute.

June 2006 - I've just returned from a fabulous month of travels, visiting longtime friends in Maryland, North Carolina, New York City, celebrating a graduation and a wedding, and giving concerts with violinist Chris Otto in San Diego.  I feel so energized now, having reconnected with so many fantastic people, and I'm eager to get busy on summer projects (particularly some new compositions!) and do some more research on where I'd like to go to school in the near future.

March 2006- Things are going pretty well in my world, I've been doing more composing recently, and planning a violin/piano recital with a good friend in San Diego, and a big recital of piano music (of every variety I can think of) for this fall.  Recently added: a complete list of my choral music.

January 2006- Happy new year!  I've made a big decision - I'd really like to focus my musical activites on composing, and develop a professional career, so I'm going to go back to school.  I really don't know where yet, or who I'd most like to study with, but I'm giving myself a whole year to figure out before I apply.  So I expect to stay in Denver until the fall of 2007.  On Jan. 28th, I'll be directing and performing in several short plays - see the performances page for full details.

December 2005- I had a fantastic trip to Thailand!  I was in Bangkok for a week, producing a recording of my arrangements with some very talented Japanese musicians.  Visit the picture gallery for the full story...Happy holidays to everyone!

November 2005 - Thanks to the performers and audience for an enjoyable Recital of Musical and Artistic Duets on Nov 18!  The best bits will show up on my first DVD when I get it all assembled.  I recently had my first radio interview at www.kgnu.org, 88.5 FM in Boulder, 1390 AM in Denver.  In other news, I'm finishing the arrangements for Ryuko Mizutani and her friends in Thailand, and I'm really enjoying working with the music and theatre departments at the Denver School of the Arts, where they'll be performing Bye Bye Birdie at 7:30 pm on Dec 6, 7, and 8 - I recommend that you go see it!

October 2005 - I'm putting together my next recital, it'll be all duets, with a variety of singers, instrumentalists, dancers, and artists. The date is Fri, Nov 18th. More info... And I've got a huge trip planned for early December, I'll be in Thailand!!! My friend Ryuko Mizutani is recording and performing several of my arrangements for koto trio. This will be my first trip to Asia, and I'm so excited about it!

September 2005 - I finally got around to spiffing up the website. Enjoy the oodles of new features! My newest CD is out - Life, The Universe, And Everything (thanks to Douglas Adams for the inspiration, and for all the fish).

August 2005 - I've moved into a great apartment in downtown Denver and am making plans for the next year, to include writing a lot more music, playing in piano bars, teaching lots of students, rocking out with my band, and possibly playing organ recitals around the country.
